Internet of Things (loT) หมายถึง การที่สิ่งต่างๆ ถูกเชื่อมโยงเข้าด้วยกัน ในโลกของอินเทอร์เน็ต ทำให้มนุษย์สามารถสั่งการและควบคุมการใช้งานอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ ผ่านทางเครือข่าย อินเตอร์เน็ตได้เช่น การสั่งเปิด-ปิด อุปกรณ์เครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้า โทรศัพท์มือถือ เครื่องใช้สำนักงาน เครื่องมือทาง การเกษตร เครื่องจักรในโรงงานอุตสาหกรรม บ้านเรือน รวมไปถึงเครื่องใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันต่างๆ ผ่าน เครือข่ายอินเทอร์เน็ต
ในอนาคตบ้านอัจฉริยะ (Smart Home) จะกลายเป็นเทคโนโลยีในฝันที่ช่วยให้ผู้ใช้สามารถเข้าถึงและตรวจสอบบ้านจากระยะไกลได้ง่ายขึ้น โดยควบคุมด้วยระบบคอมพิวเตอร์ สามารถแจ้งเตือนให้ผู้ใช้ทราบโดยการส่ง SMS หรือใช้งานผ่าน Smart Home Applications ที่ติดตั้งบนสมาร์ทโฟน ลดปัญหาการหลงลืมหรือไม่มีเวลาในการดูแลบ้าน พร้อมทำให้คุณภาพชีวิตของคุณดีขึ้น ด้วย 6 รูปแบบนวัตกรรมการควบคุม

ประโยชน์ของ Internet of Things
ด้านการแพทย์ : ปัจจุบันวิทยาการทางการแพทย์ ได้มีการนำเทคโนโลยีเข้ามาร่วมด้วยมากขึ้น เช่น กล้องขนาดเล็กที่ส่องเข้าไปภายในร่างกายของคนไข้ ทำให้สามารถเห็นอวัยวะภายในได้โดยไม่ต้องทำการผ่าตัด ซึ่งช่วยลดความเจ็บปวด และเวลาในการรักษาให้สั้นลง ซึ่งถ้าหากมีการนำ Internet of Thing เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมด้วย จะช่วยในด้านความสะดวกรวดเร็วในการติดต่อระหว่างแพทย์และคนไข้ได้อย่างรวดเร็วมากยิ่งขึ้นเช่น การฝังชิปไว้ในร่างกายผู้ป่วย ที่สามารถติดต่อแพทย์ให้อัตโนมัติเมื่อมีเหตุการณ์ผิดปกติ
